The Importance of Knowing What You Have
Probably like you, my wife and I are both working at home with our three kids.
And, maybe like you, as we prepared to hunker down we had that momentary feeling of “how will we get through this, will we be okay?”
Many of our clients are having those feelings about their finances. Here is one way to get that feeling of control and security back.
When we had that sudden anxiety, and we had heard about everyone clearing out the shelves of toilet paper, of course we thought “do we need to do that too?” So we checked. There wasn’t much in the downstairs bathroom so I yelled upstairs to my daughter Gabby and said hey would you check the closet in the bathroom? How much toilet paper is there? 18 rolls she yelled back. There was one crisis averted. Seems a little silly, but just that made me feel a little better.
The same is true for your finances. The first step in feeling more secure is knowing exactly what you have and where it is. That’s why the first step of our field of vision planning system is to take inventory and have a quick and easy way of checking on it each month.
If you don’t have a good system for that now, this is the one we use with our clients. When we help them put this together, most of them tell us it gives them a feeling of comfort.
If you want to use this system to pull together your information, we will let you use ours for free. No obligation. If you put your information in, we will send you your own map along with our DIY guide to creating a financial center in your home.
