Don't be Greenwashed!
ESG, Environmental, Social, and Governance, investing is very much in fashion right now. But you need to be on alert against being taken advantage of. Investing in companies that adopt responsible policies can be one way of living your values. Ultimately, it may prove to be a good investing policy as those companies that are responsibly run could do better long term than companies that put pure profit first. But more companies, even countries, and especially mutual funds, will be more interested in the public relations benefits than actually accomplishing social goals. And they will see it as a great way to charge you more fees while not actually doing anything different.
